Field Trip

During our final year at university we got the opportunity to go on a weekend cruise onboard the Britannia to Zeebrugge. Even though I was working onboard a cruise ship for a short period of time it was still different to experience the few days onboard as a passenger.

Before the trip even began I had to think of what to pack taking into consideration what the whether was going to be like in April but also things that we could possibly be doing onboard but also making sure I remembered the most important thing, my passport. We had to arrive at Southampton port for 13.15 to begin boarding, whilst onboard I was sharing a room with two of my friends which was exciting because we got to experience the adventure together.

Once we had got onboard we got the opportunity to explore the ship get our room keys, sort ourself out, Friday evening was more of a chilled evening and we just got to wind day after a long day of travelling and getting onboard. On the Saturday morning we arrived in Bruges and we got a good couple of hours to explore the city and the culture which was really interesting, and to try out local food and drink. After we had our visit to Bruges we then got back onboard the ship and Saturday evening it was formal night so we all got the opportunity to dress up and have a night formal sit down meal with everyone else that came on the trip with us, once we’d finished our formal meal we went to see a magic show which was really good.

Unfortunately Sunday arrived and it had come to the end of our trip and before we knew it it was over and we was on our train back to Plymouth. The trip was such a good experience and an enjoyable time to spend with everyone on our course outside of university.
